Inaccurate battle predictions

This is ridiculous; I just had a fleet battle prediction of 'no casualties' - I then upgraded my three capital ships - and now the battle prediction is light casualties (which is what happened after the battle).
Or, even more fun, I hover the mouse over a different battle and it says 'no casualties' but in the pre-battle screen it says 'light casualties'.
Come on, really>?
