Krynn Syndicate: No missions?

Having played as the,

Terran Alliance (tutorial)
Terran Resistance
Phalenoid Advance
Manti Cluster
Krynn Syndicate
Torian Regime (started yesterday)

And with the exception of the Krynns, all had missions. Is this something unique to them (and possibly a few other civilizations), that they don't get assigned missions?
