Multiple Colonies in a Turn

When I send out a Colony Ship expansion, sometimes I get 3 colonies being created in a turn.  At this point, I am saying "no" to even when I do to colonize, and then do them one at a time.  This is some  micromanagement that could be resolved, if when colonizing a planet, one got to see the planet stats (class, resources, special) before looking at the colonization options screen (does this option matter?  Will it ever possibly be a core world?)
